There's always something happening in the quiet parts of a scene. And that 'something,' whatever it is, is usually exactly what the scene is actually about. But improvisers aren't always comfortable being quiet onstage. We tend to freak out in negative space and want to fill it in with all kinds of unnecessary made up stuff. This workshop is about cultivating a sense for quiet, befriending subtext, and finding the pleasure and surprise in leaving things (mostly) unsaid.
LOUIS KORNFELD: Louis Kornfeld has been lucky enough to make improv and the teaching of improv his full time career since 2006, with classes that emphasize simplicity, patience and honesty. He's been a proud member of NYC's Magnet Theater since it first opened its doors, and has acted and toured all across the country, including a stint aboard the NCL Gem performing with Second City Theatricals. In addition, he's also an award winning writer whose stories are frequently featured on The Truth podcast. You might have seen him on some commercials, too!
